My favorite character in the book is Kate. She is so kind to Pat and Coop.  She worries and helps Pat. In the book Kate tells Pat, “A claustrophobic problem. The route we’re taking is going to be hard for you. Maybe impossible. I’m smaller than you and it’s hard for me…” This explains that Kat was worried about Pat going through something tight. Then earlier in the book Kate puts Coop in a spot with a rock in front of him so the Pod does not see him. Kate lied to the Pod to protect Coop. She told the Pod that she pushed Coop into the river and that he should be dead.

  2. I would have to say that my favorite character would be Pat saying that he imagined Coop sitting at the table with him. Also how he found a nice clean turkey for Christmas. I was going to say one thing that i really want to say but I can't remember it.

My favorite character in the book is Coop, because he is smart, and has a likable personality. In Beneath, it says, "Old people, young people, rich people, poor people, white, black, Hispanic, Muslim, Christian, whatever...he makes no distinctions. to him they are just people...none better, none worse than the other." Coop sees all people as equal, which in a modern-day world would be a likable trait. I think his little quirks are cool. They're not hobbies everybody in the world has.

My favorite character would have to be Coop because he was a good brother to Pat and he let Pat dig a tunnel that later blew them up. Also, he didn’t use any electronics so if his parents wanted to ground him they could ground him from electronics. They also couldn’t ground him from leaving the house because they knew that he would do it anyway. It says in the text, “There wasn’t much my parents could do to punish him. They couldn't ground someone who doesn’t care if he can’t leave the house. They couldn’t take away the phone, computer, or TV from someone who doesn’t use them.” He sees all people as equal whether they and white or black.

My favorite character is Coop. Coop is my favorite character because he is so independent and smart for example, he got all a's in school and got a scholarship for every school he tried to get into. He dug a mile long tunnel in his backyard with some help some his little brother. Did all the complicated math for tunnel. and lived on his own sense he was 14. he was grateful all that he had when he was with his parents and could make something amazing with nothing. And last but not least he is just a all out good guy. Everyone he knew loved him and thought he was a good guy to. In conclusion Coop is my favorite character because he is inspiring smart and a all out great person.

My favorite character is Coop. He is my favorite character because he thinks of people equal. he thinks of people as just people. In the book it says, "Old people, young people, rich people, poor people, white, black, Hispanic, Muslim, Christian, whatever...he makes no distinctions. to him they are just people...none better, none worse..." He is outgoing and a person who would be a great friend.

  7. My favorite character is Coop. He isn't into drama and like things to himself. In other words he is independent. For example, he is very good to his brother, Pat. He saved him from the explosion and he was injured too. In the text it states, "I didn't see the fireball because Coop had straddled his back and covered my head with his body." This shows Coops love for his brother.

  8. My favorite character is Kate. I like Kate because she always brave, determined and tries to help out the best she can, even if the situation seems impossible. Kate seems to always be coming up with plans that try to help everyone out and not cause many problems. She aims to save Coop but I think she is also trying to keep Pat safe as well. The author states, "'I pushed him into the river.' 'You should have waited for us.' 'It was easy. He was standing on the edge trying to throw the hook across. He didn't even know I was there. He dropped like a rock. Hit his head on the wall twice on the way down, slammed into that outcrop, then disappeared beneath the surface. I think he was dead before he went under.'" Kate lied to protect Coop from the Pod and throughout the book took risks to protect Pat from the Pod as well.

My favorite charter is Pat. Pat is my favorite charter because he would do anything to find his brothers. Instead of seeing his mom in Florida, he trades his ticket to find his brother in New York. He will do anything to find his brothers, even though he could die in New York. That shows how much he misses his brother and is worried about him. He even fills a missing person report for a 18 year old.

My favorite character is Pat. He is my favorite because he put his life on the line to find Coop. In the book, it said that Pat exchanged his Florida ticket for a ticket to New York. This shows that Pat will do anything to find Coop. Pat also filed a missing persons report on Coop because he was worried about him. I really like Pat because he will do anything he can to find the people he cares about.

My favorite character is Coop because he is quite ominous. He has left a couple mysteries behind him for his family and his friends throughout his life. For an example, Coop has left a mystery of where he went and why he didn't send the recorder back. Coop has also changed drastically through out the book too. He went from a friendly boy in a neighbor hood to being a missing kid that is hiding under the streets of New York, living off of scraps. Coop also seems to act like that he doesn't care for his family anymore, that being because he has abandon them and is hiding from them, and not making an effort to try to communicate with them which makes him an interesting character.

Pat is my favorite character because of how sneaky he is. It seems every time Pat stalks Posty, Posty doesn't realize that Pat is stalking him. In the book, it states that Pat hides by a restaurant and waits for Posty to come out of the fitness center. Then, Pat followed Posty to the dumpster that had the eighteen pound turkey in it. Posty said that Pat should be at the restaurant by six O-clock P.M. So they discussed what they were doing and Pat asked if he knew Coop. Pat was so sneaky that Posty didn’t know that he was being followed.

  14. The character that was my favorite was the librarian, he was always there for Kate and knew what was going on. In the end of the story if it wasn't for him they wouldn't be alive. He helped Kate learn to like books and know what Lod did. The Librarian, I feel, was a very important character to the story. Saving all three main characters and telling them what to do after they escaped. He gave them directions and helped them get of the grid so, Lod couldn't find them.

  15. My Favorite Character is Coop. Coop is my favorite because of his attitude he's kinda standoffish and rude to his parents. He's reclusive and secretive Hes reclusive and secretive because he ran away from his family as well as not telling where he had gone. he's standoffish and rude because he refused to go to college when he was given the opportunity to and standoffish because once again he fled his home and moved to New York that is why i like Coop.

  16. My Favorite character was Coop. Coop wasn't into all of the excitement. He stayed mostly to himself and did not involve much else. He was kid of different from everyone else. He was really secretive. He also thinks everyone should be equal and that is a super likable trait to have. For example, when he explains no matter whether someone is White, Black, Hispanic...and so on. This is very important because Coop believed all people should be equal.

My favorite character in the book is Kate. I like her because she is brave and always willing to help a friend. She always puts her friends before herself. For example the book states, "'I pushed him into the river.' ...'It was easy. He was standing on the edge trying to throw he hook across. He didn't even know I was there. He dropped like a rock. Hit his head on the wall twice on the way down, slammed into that outcrop, then disappeared beneath the surface. I think he was dead before he went under'" Kate was so determined to save Coop that she lied to her own grandfather to save him. That takes guts.

  18. My favorite character is Pat. Pat is my favorite character because he will do anything to help Coop. He filed a missing persons report for an 18 year old, stalked and confronted an adult to find him. Pat even confronted his claustrophobia and crawled in to the underground.Just to find Coop. He is very dedicated to his brother and will do anything to help him.

  19. One of my favorite characters is Pat because he really likes Coop. He is really loyal to Coop and will do anything to help him. Another attribute I like about him is he tries to overcome his fears which is a hard to do. When he squeezed through a tight and long tunnel to save Coop. He displayed his loyalty to Coop by overcoming his fears. He must really adore Coop a lot.

  20. In my opinion my favorite chapter is chapter 1 because to me it is one of the most important parts to every writing because it introduces the characters and the problem to the story there for you know what is going on in the writing.

My Favorite character is Pat because he is willing to risk his life and face his biggest fear to save his big brother that ran away. Pat has good character and is loyal to Coop. He seems to be a good talker with other people. My least favorite character is Lod. He is evil and has a twisted mind to kill. He is a serial killer of his own people, well he tried at least.

My favorite character is Kate. She is willing to help Pat find his brother, and help save Coop. Kate is very smart and nice, and she plays a big role in the story. She goes against Lod's wishes, and does what she wants, not what everyone wants her to do. Kate did a lot to help Coop, and gave Pat comfort when he had panic attacks. I also thought it was funny when she didn't eat any food besides cake when we fist met her.

My favorite character is Kate. Kate is my favorite character because she helped Pat find his brother Coop. The book stated, "Yet she was so kind."We can go the long way," Kate said." Other in other words Kate was willing to not take the detour for Pat. Kate is one of those people that you can always trust and know that she has your back.

My least favorite character is going to be Lod. I chose Lod as my least favorite character because he kind of imprisons anyone at the Pod. Another reason Lod is my least favorite character is because he murdered his own son and daughter in law which is just cruel. On the other hand I do like how he is very concerned about Kate. Those are my reasons for why Lod is my least favorite character.

I feel like because I know Lod is the villain in the story, it is just really hard to like him. On the other hand I do like how he is very concerned about Kate. 27. My least favorite character is Lod because he is very selfish and cares for nobody except for Kate and himself. In the book it describes him as mean and rude especially when he killed his own daughter and son in law

  28. My favorite character is Kate. She's very persuasive and intelligent when it comes to arguing with Lod. An example of her being persuasive and intelligent is when she threatened Lod to leave the deep if she didn't become a shadow.

My favorite character is Coop. Coop is very independent. I like how he can do things by himself and does not need to rely on everyone else. I am sort of like Coop. Coop also takes care of the people he loves. He labels everyone as equal. He loves his brother and does anything to make sure he is okay. For example when he save him from the explosion his brother said “I didn’t see the fireball because Coop had straddled my back and covered my head with his body.” Coop is a very good person and would never hurt anyone.

My favorite character from the book is Vincent. Vincent is my favorite character because he seems moody. He acts grumpy and he only wants to be around Denise. According to the book Beneath,“He’s chewed up some things around the house and screams a lot,” In other word, Vincent love to ruin things and chew up things. He also love to scream. One large reason why I love this character is because he reminds me of our old dog. He used to chew up anything we left in the backyard. He also would try to “protect us” at night by barking at the neighbor's dogs. Just like Denise I had this dog when I was very young. Another reason why I love this character is because he is a parrot and I really love parrots.

My least favorite character is Lod. I don’t like Lod because he is a jerk. For example he killed his own son and daughter in law. Also he keeps people at the pod. I found weird and a little suspicious that he cared more about Kate more than his own daughter and son in law. Overall I think Lod is a bad person.

My least favorite character is Lod for several reasons. The first reason is because Lod and other people of the pod blew up buildings before they went into the deep. I don't know why this was necessary. Another reason is because Lod murdered two people and seriously injured another, along with kidnapping a child. In the text the librarian says, "because of you, Kate, There were three bodies in the dumpster. Not two. I was the third." Then the librarian says, "I was a member of the pod. An original. I went with Lod up top to find your parents. I had no idea he was planning to murder them. I tried to stop him. But it was dark that night...very dark. He shot me in the leg. But the second bullet intended for my head missed. It grazed my skull and knocked me out. He thought I was dead. I got out of the alley, with some help, and got to a hospital." This quote tells us Lod tried to kill three people, but failed only killing the parents. Yet, Lod still succeeded in kidnapping the child. I don't like Lod because he's not a good person, got all of the people in the pod to follow him, planned to blow up the pod, gas it to kill any survivors from the blast, and killing everyone, but himself and Kate.

My favorite character in the book ‘Beneath’ is Coop. In the book, it describes him as someone who is different and independent. For example, in the text it states, “He doesn’t talk on the phone, doesn’t use email, and doesn’t have friends. He never really cared about anything but the thrill of being underground and Pat.” To explain further, Coop never wanted to be like other kids but rather he was himself. Fitting in with the other kids was not something he wanted in life. Coop never discriminated against other races of people. In the text it had stated that he viewed all races as equal.

My least favorite characters are Pat & Coop's parent, Mr. & Mrs. O'Toole. First they had children they weren't happy with. They were always too busy with work, one "looking up" and one "looking down". The parents weren't happy with eachother so they split up. Now Mr. O'Toole goes on vacation without Pat. They were never happy with Coop and they seem very disfunctional. I feel bad for the boys. Pat and Coop seem better off by themself.

My favorite character in the book is the librarian. He never gave up and knew exactly what was happening. He was always there for Kate and helped save the three main characters. He told Kate what Lod was doing and how to get away from him. If it wasn't for him Coop, Kate, and Pat might've been killed. He was super secretive and seemed like a reliable person. He was always there for people.

Based on what I read, my favorite character is Kate. My favorite character is Kate because she knows what to do and when to do it. She is smart, talented, and favored over the rest of the people of the deep, she is also LODs granddaughter. Since she is LODs granddaughter she is able to get away with things others wouldn't. Kate knows just how much she can bluff before LOD realizes it. Kate also makes me laugh how quickly she can change personalities when she is talking to LOD. Without Kate Pat can't find Coop, I feel like she is a nice person because she will break the rules to help others. But in the eyes of someone else she might be a trouble maker. If it wasn’t for Kate deciding to help Pat, Coop would be gone forever. Which makes me believe even more that Kate is a kind person. That is why she is my favorite character.

My favorite character is Coop. I like how independent he is and how he can go on his own. He doesn't have to have tons of friends and have to be on his electronics all the time to be happy. In the text it states "He doesn't talk on the phone, doesn't use email, and doesn't have friends." He has his brother and that's enough. I think this is admirable because it shows us that he can have good times with his brother who he trusts. This can also be a disadvantage as well. People might think he is weird and socially awkward. This may be the reason he doesn't have many friends.

My favorite character is the half parrot Vincent. I like him because he is a HALF parrot and usually half relatives are people. It is kind of funny that Pat and Coop's Dad's girlfriend considers the parrot as a part of the family. Coop and Pat also think this is pretty funny. The parrot's name makes it even more hilarious. Vincent is among the list of names you joke about naming your kid or dog and it is funny someone actually named their parrot that.

Based on what I have read, my favorite character throughout the book was Kate. Kate was my favorite character for more than just one reason. For starters, she was always kind to Coop and Pat. For example, on pages 119 and 120, it says, “She took my hand. I almost started crying. She could not possibly have any idea of the overwhelming suffocating dread I was experiencing. Yet she was so kind.” Second, I like how she can be on both sides of a situation without anybody noticing, and on page 211 a quote summarises just about every reason I like Kate the best,”Smart. Beautiful. Tough. Great Actress. Contortionist. Everything you’d want in a girl” the quote states. Kate never got lost, or was ever disoriented, she didn't goof around when she knew something was serious, She was independent, loved dogs, and was mentally and physically strong. I liked her personality the best, and she was by far the most articulate person on the team.
